It's been 400 years since Isabella Swan joined the Cullen clan. It started with flu-like symptoms. Rosalie got it first. Her skin burned, her head hurt, she coughed, and her stomach hurt. The next time she hunted, the blood was retained in her body. Instead of 'burning' through her, it stayed in her, running through her dead, dried veins. She felt weak and the symptoms were confusing to Carlisle. And then, she was laying in bed, her head on Emmett's shoulder as she tried to sleep through the muscles pains.
It was a heartbeat. A single heartbeat that echoed through the house. Rosalie's heart was beating again. All of the vampires were confused. Rosalie was as well. She didn't know what was happening and most of all, she didn't know what she wanted. If there was a chance that she could remain human if Emmett wasn't... was that what she wanted?
And more vampires are coming to Carlisle with the same symptoms. Kate, from the Denali coven, is retaining blood. Amun, from the Egyptian coven, is having stomach pains. And more vampires are coming to Forks. More vampires are going to turn and nobody knows the cure yet? What is going to happen to them? And will they stay human?
